What is RecSocial?

RecSocial is a dedicated platform designed to help you share, discover, and ask for trusted recommendations from people you know. Whether you are looking for a new podcast, a reliable plumber, or a great vacation spot, RecSocial cuts through the noise of traditional social media and focuses entirely on high-quality, trusted advice from your network.

What kind of things can I recommend or ask about?

Almost anything! We have built-in categories to keep things organized, including Products, Movies & Series, Food & Drinks, Travel, Business Services, Medical Services, Books, Articles, Videos, Music, Podcasts, and a general "Others" category for everything in between.

What can I do if I see a post I don't want on my feed?

You are in complete control of your feed. If you see a Rec or Ask that isn't relevant to you, you can easily select the option to "Hide" it.

Is RecSocial free to download and use?

Yes! RecSocial is completely free to download and use.

Why use RecSocial instead of other social media or messaging apps?

RecSocial is purpose-built for trusted recommendations, and it solves the biggest frustrations of other platforms:

Real trust, not paid influence: Most social media content is driven by influencers who are paid to promote things they may not even use. On RecSocial, recommendations come from your actual connections, making them much more valuable, relatable, and aligned with your personal taste.

Purpose-driven, no mindless scrolling: Traditional apps mix news, memes, and entertainment, making it easy to get distracted. RecSocial has a single intent: discovering and sharing great recommendations without the clutter or the algorithm trap.

No more lost links in group chats: While messaging apps are great for talking, recommendations quickly get buried in the daily chatter. RecSocial keeps your network’s advice organized, searchable, and easy to bookmark for whenever you actually need it.

How do I handle inappropriate content?

We want to keep the RecSocial community safe and helpful. If you come across a post that violates our community guidelines, you can use the "Report" feature to flag it as inappropriate for our moderation team to review.

What are "Circles" on RecSocial?

Circles are a powerful way to organize your connections and control your audience. To get you started, RecSocial comes with several pre-created Circles, such as Family, Friends, Close Friends, Work Friends, and Neighbors. You can add each connection to one or multiple Circles, making it incredibly easy to target exactly who you want to reach when you share or ask for a recommendation

Can other people see how I organize my Circles?

No. Your Circles are 100% private to you. Your connections will not know which Circles you have placed them in, giving you complete freedom to organize your network however you like.

Who can see the recommendations I post or the things I ask for?

You are in complete control of your audience. When you post a recommendation or an Ask, you can choose to make it visible to: Public: Anyone on the app. Connections: Only people you are connected with. Specific Circles: Only the targeted groups you select.

Can I ask for a recommendation from just a specific group of friends?

Absolutely. If you need a pediatrician recommendation, you might only want to ask your "Local Parents" Circle. Simply select that specific Circle when creating your Ask, and only those connections will see it.

How do I ask my network for a Recommendation?

To create an Ask, start by tapping on the + icon in the bottom section of the app. Select "Ask for a Rec" option and a category selection screen will be presented. Select the category you need help with. Then, simply type out your request as a question.

Can I specify exactly what I am looking for in an Ask?

Yes! To help your connections give you the best possible advice, you can optionally list your "must-haves" and "nice-to-haves." This ensures the recommendations you receive actually fit your specific needs.

How does the search feature work?

Our search tool is designed to help you find exactly what you need, instantly. Just type any keyword into the search bar, and the app will return all matching users, Recs, and Asks related to that keyword.

Can I search for something within a specific category?

Yes! If you are looking for something specific, you can use the search bar to look up keywords and instantly see matching Users, Recs, and Asks. Because everything is categorized, you can easily filter your results to find exactly what you are looking for.

What can I see on my profile?

Your profile is your personal hub on RecSocial. It houses all the Recommendations (Recs) you have shared, the Asks you have posted, and your saved Bookmarks. Because everything is categorized, your profile acts as a neatly organized library of your past activity and saved items.

Where do I find my saved Bookmarks?

All your bookmarked Recs and Asks live directly on your profile. Since the app auto-organizes your bookmarks by category (like Books, Food & Drinks, or Medical Services), you can jump straight to what you need without scrolling through a messy, mixed list.

How do I completely delete my account?

If you decide to leave RecSocial, you can delete your account by tapping on your profile picture. This will slide open a side menu drawer where you will find the Account -> Delete Account option. (Note: You can also find the Sign Out option in this same menu). Account deletion is permanent. When you choose to delete your account, all the data you have created on RecSocial—including your profile information, Circles, saved Bookmarks, and any Recommendations or Asks you have shared—will be completely and permanently erased from our system.

How do I view another user's profile?

You can view someone else's profile simply by tapping their name or profile picture anywhere in the app — like on a Rec or an Ask they posted, or right from your search results. This lets you discover the Recs and Asks they have chosen to share with you or the public..

How do I edit my profile?

Updating your account is easy. Just navigate to your profile page and look for the "Edit Profile" button. From there, you can update your personal details and keep your account current.

How do I contact support or share feedback?

We are always looking to improve RecSocial and would love to hear from you! To get in touch with our support team or share your thoughts, tap on your profile picture to open the side drawer, then select the Share Feedback option. This will open a screen where you can send a message directly to our team. Alternatively, you can drop an email to support@recsocialapp.com.
